Team Vinny is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering student-athletes in Southfield Public Schools by removing financial barriers to sports participation. Inspired by the legacy of Vincent Gregory II, a passionate and determined athlete, the foundation ensures that no student is denied the opportunity to play due to the cost of equipment and necessary expenses.
Our Vision
We envision a future where every student with the desire to play sports has the opportunity to do so, regardless of financial limitations. By removing these barriers, we help young athletes build character, friendships, and a sense of accomplishment that will last a lifetime.
The foundation is named in honor of Vincent Gregory II, who played football, wrestled, and swam while attending Southfield and Southfield-Lathrup High Schools. Though he faced challenges, Vinny’s unwavering determination and work ethic set him apart. His journey reminds us that success isn’t just about talent—it’s about heart and perseverance. In 2010, Vinny’s life was cut short by multiple sclerosis, but his passion for sports and his never-give-up attitude live on through the work of this foundation.
